Now we all know by now that becoming a celebrity or public figure opens you up to a world of criticism. Most of the general public (or at least the ones who are members of the social media community) thinks that is a green light to leash verbal assassination on every character flaw that a person has. It seems to have become the norm now, but does someone choosing a career that puts them in the public eye make it okay to wage a war of criticism on them?

Just about anyone who surfs the web on a regular basis has seen all the unfortunate news surrounding the life of comedic actress Amanda Bynes by now. It’s sad that she is going through whatever issues it is that she is going through, but is it necessary for the media to add to the fire? The media says that she needs help and others are trying to “diagnose” her with one disorder or the other. My question is: If you believe that she needs help, why would you shred her name and character to pieces with the floods of negative articles and posts every day? I must be in the wrong dimension with the wrong species because I thought that when you see that someone needs help, you don’t do or say things that would make matters worse.

What happened why we are so conditioned to tear people apart with the click of a mouse these days? Seriously, have our lives become that empty that we find pleasure in diminishing the image of someone that we don’t even know just because they’re going through a hard time? I wonder, what would the Amanda Bynes critics have to say if it was their sister/mother/cousin/grandmother on blast and exposed to the entire world during their bad moment? I have always loved seeing Amanda Bynes on TV ever since her Nickelodeon days and my view of her being that beautiful, hilarious girl has not changed in light of what's happened with her these past few weeks. It really shouldn't change anyone else's either. I pray the best for Amanda and everyone else going through a rough moment. God is in the healing and blessing business!
